Preschool Programs in Middletown Public Schools

The Middletown Public Schools Preschool Program offers school-day and part-day preschool to three and four year old Middletown residents. The program follows the Middletown Public Schools school year calendar. All MPS Preschool Programs are Monday through Friday.

School-Day Preschool Program

There are 4 school day classes (6.75 hours a day) for 4 year olds (born before 9/1/22) located at Bielefield Elementary School and Snow Elementary School. The school day program is by lottery only.

Part-Day Preschool Program

Part-Day Classes are for 3 (born before 9/1/23) and 4 (born before 9/1/22) year old Middletown residents and the daily program runs for 2.75 hours. The morning session is for 3 year old children only and the afternoon session is for 3 and 4 year old children. This may change depending on enrollment. The part-day classes are at Snow Elementary School.

Preschool Enrollment

  • ** Extended until April 10 while KPA information continues to be finalized.

    **Closed** Lottery Application 2026-2027

The lottery for school day (6.75 hours) spots at Snow and Bielefield will open for 4 year old (born before September 1, 2022) residents of Middletown on Thursday March 5, 2026 and will close on Friday April 10, 2026.  Lottery entries prior to the open or close dates will not be accepted, nor will multiple entries.

Students who are offered a placement in a school-day program will be notified the week of April 27, 2026.  Please do not attempt to register before lottery results are shared, unless you are also interested in the part-day program.

As we have more children enter into the lottery than have available spots, acceptance is not guaranteed.  Families not accepted through the lottery may be placed on a waiting list and/or may apply for the part-day program.

Family’s preschool fee will be determined based on the Office of Early Childhood’s Sliding Fee scale. Transportation will be available based on income.

Accepted families will be asked to complete their child’s registration, including first payment, by Friday, May 15, 2026 or the spot will go to the next child on the waitlist.

  • Applications will be taken beginning in March 2026 for part-day preschool at Snow School for 3 (born before September 1, 2023) and 4 year old (born before September 1, 2022) children residing in Middletown for the 2026-2027 school year.  There is no deadline for enrollment, applications are taken on a first come first serve basis.

Parents will be notified regarding the status of their child's application once the online registration and required documents are received.  Once your child's required paperwork is completed, you will be notified of the monthly fee, whether your child qualifies for transportation, and if your child is accepted into the program.  Students are enrolled in the order that their application is completed. Acceptance is not final until the first payment is received.  First payments are due by August 1, 2026.  The MPS Preschool Program will continue to accept applications throughout the summer. Your child will be placed on the waiting list as the program fills.

    Preschool Online Registration

There are three easy steps to our on-line registration.

Begin at this link: Enrollment Express
This link is Step 1 in the registration process. Once approved at the school level, an email will be sent with important information so you will need a valid email address to proceed with registration. Once Step 1 is approved by the school you will be emailed notification of registration approval with an Access ID and Access Password to set up your student(s) in PowerSchool.

Step 2: Establish Parent Portal Access

    • If you have NEVER created a PowerSchool account, step 2 will be to create a parent portal. Follow the instructions in the email to access PowerSchool and click “Create Account”.  Enter the required information in the top section of the page.  Use the information from the access email to complete the “Link Students to Account” section.

    • If you already have a parent portal account with the Middletown Public schools, please be sure to register your student with the email associated with that account.  You can add the additional student(s) to your portal using the Access ID and Password that will be sent in the above referenced email by going to your Parent Portal and clicking on Account Preference (on the left side), clicking on the Students tab (at the top), click on the Add button (on the right) and entering the Access ID and Password sent in the email.

Step 3 will be to log into your parent portal and click on Ecollect Forms located on the left. These are the online registrations forms.  These forms are a requirement in order for your children to start school in Middletown.

Required documents for registration can be mailed to Central Office or uploaded into the PowerSchool portal.

    • Income information (federal 1040 from most recent tax return)
