You're interested in volunteering with Middletown Public Schools! That's great news!
Familiarize yourself with the different levels of volunteers:
MPS Volunteers - Three Tiers
All volunteers must be approved before helping for any school activity.
The volunteer form is on the Middletown Public Schools’ website and paper copies are available at school upon request.
Level I Volunteers:
- Defined as current Middletown Public Schools employees or students.
- Do not require formal screening or training.
Level II Volunteers:
- Engage in activities in the presence of Middletown Public Schools employees.
- Complete the DCF Release on an annual basis.
- Examples For Guidance:
- Assisting in a classroom, cafeteria, or library when a Middletown Public Schools employee is present;
- Accompanying class on field trip during the school day with the teacher.
Level III Volunteers:
- Provide services to students when not in the direct presence of a MiddletownPublic Schools employee.
- Required to submit a DCF Release And Fingerprinting (Criminal background check).
- Examples for guidance:
- Accompanying a class on a fieldtrip when students are divided into small groups, supervised solely by the volunteer chaperone for any length of time
- Chaperoning an overnight field trip;
- Working in direct contact with students without the direct presence of a Middletown Public Schools employee.
